The well-known Fairy Lake is located at the mouth of Laotieshan in Guanglu Island, Changhai County. Where lake meets sea, the scenery is breathtaking — the sea sets off the lake’s gentle beauty, while the lake accentuates the sea’s vastness. Stretching over 800 meters in length, 200 meters in width, and 30 meters in depth, Fairy Lake has a maximum water capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters. It was formed in the 1970s when local villagers built a dam to block the spring water that flowed from the mountains into the Yellow Sea.

When the wind is still, the misty surface of Fairy Lake resembles an unpolished bronze mirror, with the serene mountain hues reflected on the water like the bluish coiled hairpins of fairies in a mirror. When the wind picks up, ripples dance across the lake, as if the fairy’s flowing skirt is fluttering. The lakeside vegetation is lush and emerald green. The green mountains, verdant trees, and clear waters merge harmoniously, creating a delightful scene. Many small fish freely swim among the tree stumps at the bottom of the lake. Fishing by the lake offers a unique pleasure. Fishing facing the lake, you’ll have freshwater fish such as carp and silver carp constantly biting; while fishing toward the sea, you can catch a variety of marine fish. The convergence of lake and sea, with the perfect balance of fresh and saltwater, makes fishing here an experience unlike any other.
