Baidianzi Stone Shelter

The Baidianzi Stone Shelter is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The ancient Baidianzi Stone Shelter site is located on Gusaoshi Mountain in Xiaofangshen Village, Wulu Town, Zhuanghe City. The stone shelter is made of granite and consists of four walls, a capstone, and a base stone. Beneath the paving stones inside the shelter, a stone spinning whorl and petrified bone fragments were unearthed, while outside the shelter, black pottery shards and fragmented stone tools were found. Today, except for an opening on the eastern wall large enough for one person to pass through, the other parts are well preserved. According to expert research, the Baidianzi Stone Shelter is the burial site of a tribal chief from the Bronze Age and holds significant research and preservation value.

Baidianzi was once under the jurisdiction of Shishanzi, hence it is also known as the "Shishanzi Stone Shelter." There were originally two such shelters here. According to local legend, the story of “Sister-in-law and Niece Carving Stone and Ascending to Heaven” led to the two shelters being called “Gushi” (Niece Stone) and “Saoshi” (Sister-in-law Stone). The “Saoshi” was located more than 20 meters northeast of the “Gushi,” but it no longer exists. The “Gushi” faces from south to north and is made of processed and polished granite. The four side stones are joined to form a box-like structure with slightly inward-leaning sides. The upper rear part of the eastern side stone is broken. The southern side stone tilts inward. The inner surface of the western side stone has two grooves carved opposite the northern and southern side stones. The capstone extends 0.50–0.80 meters beyond the side stones to form an overhang. There is a base stone beneath. Between the western side stone and the base stone, fragments of human bones and half of a stone spinning whorl were discovered.

Protected area: Within 20 meters outside the vertical projection of the stone shelter’s capstone.

Construction control zone: The area within 30 meters outside the protected area is designated as Class I construction control zone; the area within 100 meters outside the Class I control zone is designated as Class II construction control zone.
