The Dalian Seaside-Lushunkou Scenic Area is a national scenic area.

Lushunkou is located at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, bordered by the Yellow Sea to the east, the Bohai Sea to the west, and adjacent to downtown Dalian to the north. This scenic area includes many attractions in the Lushunkou region, such as Baiyu Mountain and Laotie Mountain, and is a famous tourist destination in Dalian.

The Lushunkou Scenic Area is part of the “Dalian Seaside–Lushunkou Scenic Area.” The Lushunkou region boasts beautiful scenery, with well-known natural attractions such as Baiyu Mountain and Laotie Mountain. Lushunkou, also known as “Lion’s Mouth,” is a roughly 300-meter-wide strait formed between two facing mountains, allowing only one large warship to pass at a time. Its strategic location makes it easy to defend but hard to attack, and it has been a contested military site throughout history.

In the Lushunkou region, there are many historical sites that witnessed the First Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War, including the Site of the Russian-Japanese Prison, the South Ammunition Depot, the Electric Rock Battery, East Jiguan Mountain, the former site of the Navy Camp Meeting Place, and other military relics, as well as historical buildings such as Lushun Railway Station and Baiyu Mountain Pagoda. Additionally, there are museums and exhibition halls such as the Lushun Museum and the Navy Weapons Museum.

As a witness to the modern history of Dalian and even the entire Liaodong Peninsula, the Lushunkou region is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts.
