Martyr Zhou Jianhua’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Kaiyuan City.

Martyr Zhou Jianhua’s Tomb: Martyr Zhou Jianhua’s Tomb is located in Xinan’gou Village, Lijiatai Town, Kaiyuan City. Martyr Zhou Jianhua was the political commissar of the 3rd Division of the 1st Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. In December 1937, he sacrificed heroically while covering his comrades’ retreat and resisting the enemy. After his death, local residents risked their lives to bury him at the site of his martyrdom. Over the years, local villagers have never forgotten this revolutionary martyr who sacrificed for the country and the nation. Every year during the Qingming Festival, they spontaneously organize visits to pay their respects, which has helped preserve the martyr’s tomb for nearly seventy years.

In 2006, the burial site of Martyr Zhou Jianhua was discovered, and his descendants and relatives erected a memorial monument there.

Protected area: 20 meters beyond the perimeter of the tomb itself.

His original name was Deng Xiaocun, and his pen name was Bitianshi. He was born on February 13, 1913, into a declining landlord family in Taiyangling Village, Tongjia Township, Shuangyang County, Jilin Province. In 1927, he enrolled in Shuangyang Middle School. In 1930, he entered Jilin No. 1 Middle School. During his school years, influenced by progressive teachers, he read extensively the works of Lu Xun and Gorky as well as progressive books such as The Communist Manifesto.
