Anshan Station Front Square, located in Tiedong District on the east side of Anshan Railway Station, was renovated in 2001. The central tram track was removed, transforming the square from its former “中”-shaped layout to a “口”-shaped one. It is a leisure square primarily focused on shopping and entertainment. The total area is 34,600 square meters, of which 32,200 square meters are paved. The central sculpture is themed “Friends Come from Afar,” featuring the Chinese character “朋” standing 16 meters tall. Its flowing lines resemble a colorful ribbon, while its shifting colors evoke a rainbow, reflecting the hospitality and optimism of the people of Anshan.

The realistic group sculptures not only highlight the characteristics of an outstanding tourist city but also organically integrate with the “朋” character, emphasizing the spirit of “It is a joy to have friends come from afar.” The fountain is themed around exploration, progress, and innovation. Twenty water patterns freely combine according to different music, creating ever-changing, vibrant visual and auditory artistic effects. Through the majestic and lively fountains, uniquely designed sculptures, and tree-lined landscapes that can be admired from afar or enjoyed up close, the design enhances the harmony between people and their environment, underscores the “people-oriented” concept, and showcases the open-hearted welcome of Anshan’s residents to visitors from all directions as well as their peaceful and joyful way of life.
