Alishan Hotel Celebrates Its 102nd Anniversary; Travel Fair Offers Discounts to Invite Public to Witness a Century of Charm

The Alishan Hotel is a “cultural hotel” with a history of over a hundred years. The century-old cherry blossom tree in front of the hotel’s garden café, the 300-plus-year-old five-needle pine, and the 900-year-old red cypress work tree still stand tall within the hotel grounds. Alishan Hotel General Manager Chang Chin-jung stated that to celebrate the 102nd anniversary, rarely seen and well-preserved archival photos from the hotel’s collection will be displayed to the public for the first time, such as: the Alishan Station, Zhoupingshan Station, Shizilu Station, and Mianyue Station during the Japanese colonial period, as well as retired old forest railway locomotives through the years, logging records of the high mountain forest railway... and other photos.

It is worth mentioning that the first hand-drawn “New High Mountain Alishan Map” by Japanese individual Kaneko Tsunemitsu in 1934 (Showa 9) will also be specially exhibited on this occasion. At the same time, the hotel has gathered photographic works of flowers from all four seasons around Alishan, allowing visiting guests to take in the romance of seasonal floral blooms all at once. During the anniversary celebration, the suite once stayed in by General Chiang Kai-shek is also open for guided tours; every evening features professional stargazing guided tours and a specially mixed Alishan thistle health drink as a welcome beverage.

The Alishan Hotel’s 2015 Taipei International Travel Fair booth is located at Booth G659 in Hall 3 of the Taipei World Trade Center. During the exhibition, an “unlimited-period” new building two-meals-and-one-night package for two people on weekdays (including double breakfast and dinner) is being offered, which can be used with additional fees on holidays, Chinese New Year, and flower season. The online travel fair will continue until November 11.
