Closed for 3 months！Zhujing Museum of Art holds farewell night on the 31st with free admission

The Zhujing Museum of Art is hosting a farewell night this evening (the 31st), inviting the public to attend for free！It will be closed for three months starting November 2nd for space renovation and artwork restoration, and will reopen with a brand-new look on February 8, 2016 (Lunar New Year's Day).

A “Goodbye 'Till We See Again” farewell night will be held from 6pm to 9pm on October 31st. Free admission is offered during the event, featuring a musical feast under the stars, as well as a countdown with the public. Lights will be turned off for 10 minutes at Taiji Square, symbolizing the museum’s temporary closure. On Sunday, November 1st (daytime), the “Reserve 2016, See Beauty Anew” time capsule activity will be launched. Visitors can write postcards to reserve free admission on next year’s opening day and reunite with the museum.

When the museum first opened in 1999, the collage work from Mr. Zhu Jing’s “Humanity” series, created live in the central corridor, held great significance during the museum’s establishment. Due to its unique creative technique and vibrant colors, it has been widely loved by the public. To preserve the artwork for the long term, it will be taken down in November for extended restoration, and the public is invited for a final visit.

From October 20th to November 1st, the museum is holding a “Collage a Colorful World” photo collection campaign. Visitors who upload photos taken with this collage artwork in the museum’s Facebook event section and briefly describe their feelings at the time will have a chance to win a Taiji hanging brick souvenir. The first 100 people to upload on-site will also receive a Taiji popsicle.

The renovated entrance area of the museum will not only retain existing services such as ticketing, cultural and creative merchandise, and dining, but will also add a children’s art education zone and an art bookstore, reflecting Mr. Zhu Jing’s philosophy of “planting the seeds of art.”
