TransAsia Airways Upgrades Japan Routes with New Aircraft & Free 10kg Checked Baggage Allowance

Taiwan’s enthusiasm for Japanese tourism remains strong. Anticipating high demand on its Japan routes, TransAsia Airways began operating flights to Tokyo on a more spacious Airbus A330 starting from the 1st, with its inaugural flight taking off on the same day. To celebrate the A330’s first Tokyo flight, not only were 285 adorable miniature TransAsia air hostess teddy bears specially mobilized to board Flight GE606 from Taoyuan to Narita on the 1st, but passengers flying on A330-operated Japan routes before the end of January next year will also receive a free 10kg checked baggage allowance.

TransAsia Airways spokesperson Chen Yijie stated that the A330’s inaugural Tokyo flight features a “surprise trilogy”: upon check-in, passengers will receive a lucky invitation letter for early boarding; at the boarding gate, they’ll be greeted by life-sized cutouts of TransAsia air hostess teddy bears for photos and social media moments; and once aboard, every passenger will be given an air hostess teddy bear to accompany them on their journey to Tokyo.

Additionally, to celebrate the arrival of the A330, from November 1 to January 31, 2016, passengers flying on TransAsia Airways’ A330-operated Japan routes—including Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido (including Sapporo, Hakodate, and Asahikawa)—will enjoy an extra free “bonus” of 10kg for checked baggage. This brings the total checked baggage allowance to 30kg for economy class passengers, 40kg for business class, and up to 50kg for DragonPass members.
