Anniversary Celebration of Alishan Forest Railway: Iconic Steam Trains Back in Passenger Service!

To celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the Alishan Forest Railway, iconic steam trains are hitting the tracks for passenger service again. Steam train enthusiasts have the chance to experience a ride firsthand,On December 25 (Friday) from 14:00 to 15:35, three round-trips of steam locomotives pulling four cypress wood passenger cars will operate between Shimen Station and Chiayi Station on the forest railway.

In addition,The local shuttle service between 13:00 and 14:15 on the Zhapin Branch Line in the Alishan Forest Recreation Area will also be operated by steam locomotives pulling four cypress wood passenger cars, with all tickets available for purchase on site.This allows the public to enjoy the experience of riding an iconic train at regular fares. Friends who love railway travel can come and experience the charm of Alishan’s steam trains.

Alishan Steam Train Service Information
1. Between Shimen Station and Chiayi Station: 6 services (3 round-trips)
Shimen Station departure times: 14:00, 14:40, 15:20
Chiayi Station departure times: 14:15, 14:55, 15:35
Fare: NT$15 one-way full fare between Shimen and Chiayi (limited to 200 passengers per train)

2. Alisha Zhapin Line: 6 services (3 round-trips)
Alishan Station departure times: 13:00, 13:30, 14:00
Zhapin Station departure times: 13:15, 13:45, 14:15
Fare: NT$50 one-way full fare, NT$80 round-trip full fare (limited to 200 passengers per train)
