Have you ever seen a sumo toilet? Japan’s must-visit toilet museum

In Taiwan, there isn’t a standalone museum dedicated to toilets, but Japan is different. You can find plenty of toilet-related information at either Kitakyushu or Tokyo’s Narita Airport, all presented by TOTO Ltd., a leading Japanese sanitary ceramics company.

According to Lonely Planet,the Toto Gallery is located in Terminal 2 of Tokyo’s Narita Airport, where visitors can see these spotless toilets up close, alongside performances and art displays. The gallery is designed like an exhibition hall, featuring glass windows, LED light shows, ten display zones, and indoor installations.

In August this year, TOTO Ltd. also opened a toilet museum in Kitakyushu, showcasing the company’s history and products from around the world. The museum cost $60 million to build and has already welcomed over 30,000 visitors. In addition to standard toilets, you can also see sumo-sized wide toilets and other special models.
