A Warm Current in the Cold Winter: Cupid’s Arrows Fill Bitan with Love

Recently, the Gaoxiong Management Office set up interactive love-themed public art installations in Bitan, and centered them aroundthe area’s iconic swan boats, paired with symbols of love like Cupid,aiming to boost interaction and fun among visitors. In addition, Bitan features numerous installations with happiness-themed designs that not only allow for photo opportunities and interaction but have also been designated as a prime spot for wedding photography. Couples can take unique wedding photos by interacting creatively with these decorative artworks.

Bitan is famed for its swan boats, and this time they’ve specially integrated art by designing imagery of a red swan and Cupid shooting arrows. Legend says Cupid must successfully shoot two love arrows — one at a man and one at a woman — for them to fall in love. You’ll notice one of Cupid’s love arrows is missing because it’s placed on the grassy slope behind. During the interactive experience, one person can use forced perspective to imagine being shot by the arrow on the lawn, while another interacts with the Cupid in front, as if being struck by his arrow. This creates the amusing scene of both being hit by Cupid’s arrows and falling in love, filling the entire Bitan area with a floating sense of romantic happiness even in the cold winter.
