Over 75 Beautiful Camellias on Display at Nantou’s Sky Bridge in a Burst of Color

The Nantou Sky Bridge Camellia Festival Has Kicked Off Up High ! Situated within the Hou Tan Jing Scenic Area, the Sky Bridge is currently in full bloom. Visitors can not only take in the lush green valleys from the bridge — known as the “Smiling Stairway to Heaven” — while looking out or peering down into the approximately 70-meter-deep valley below, butthey can also admire over 75 varieties of camelliasin the scenic garden area, each bloom exquisitely vibrant, adding a romantic and dreamlike charm to the entire park.

The Sky Bridge park is home to hundreds of premium camellia varieties from around the globe,which begin blooming every year in November and continue until March of the following year, making for a four-month floral season.Currently, there are over 75 camellia varieties, with around 20 additional fragrant premium camellias — such as Ji, Tianxiang, and Chunwu — set to arrive before Lunar New Year.

In addition to flower viewing, the park’s biggest highlight is what is touted as Taiwan’s longest “Sky Bridge,” stretching 204 meters in length with a height difference of 5.65 meters between its two ends. Its gentle arch resembles a faint smile suspended above the valley, hence earning the nickname “Smiling Stairway to Heaven.”
