After being exhibited in Taichung, the “2015 Happy Bear Urban Carnival” kicks off in Taipei today (16th), attracting many visitors early in the morning. Compared to previous editions where the teddy bear exhibits suffered severe damage, Lin Yaoren, chairman of the Teddy Bear Association, said that although some teddy bears sustained minor physical damage during the Taichung exhibition, there was none of the vandalism seen in previous years. He expressed deep gratitude for the public’s cooperation.

The Teddy Bear Exhibition was held in Taichung starting December 12 of last year (2015). This time, the materials were made thicker, and the teddy bears were fixed to their bases. The event also increased volunteer and staff patrols on-site, and community watch teams were invited to assist with night patrols. Although some visitors still climbed onto the teddy bears to take pictures during the one-month exhibition period, fewer people touched them, and the extent of damage was noticeably less than in previous years.

Reporters visited the Shilin Official Residence on the first day of the exhibition, which attracted many visitors. Parents were seen taking photos with their children alongside the teddy bears and advising them not to touch the bears while taking pictures. Lin Yaoren, chairman of the Teddy Bear Association, also pointed out that the public demonstrated strong compliance with the on-site reminders this time, and the damage to the teddy bears was not as severe as in previous years.
