The world’s largest ocean liner sets sail for sea trials—longer than Kaohsiung’s 85 Sky Tower

The world’s largest cruise ship, “Harmony of the Seas,” set off from the western port of Saint-Nazaire, France, on the afternoon of the 10th to begin a series of sea trials, and will not return until the evening of Sunday (the 13th).

At 100 meters longer than the Titanic, the sheer size of Harmony of the Seas is something visitors can only truly appreciate in person. Calling it just a ship might be underselling it,it’s more accurate to describe it as a floating hotel on the seas. Weighing 230,000 tons with a total length of 362 meters, it even surpasses the height of Kaohsiung’s 85 Sky Tower at 348 meters. This voyage is primarily to test its operations at sea, carrying no passengers, only 500 crew members.

According to thelocal.fr website, if all goes well, the ship will head to Southampton, UK, in May this year before embarking on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean, starting in Barcelona. It is the largest ship in the Royal Caribbean International fleet, capable of carrying 6,360 passengers and 2,100 crew members.
