New Chairman Lin Baoshui: EVA Air’s EPS of NT$3.69 & Star Alliance Entry Both His Work

This afternoon (March 11), EVA Air held an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, where the most important resolution was the election of current Evergreen Steel chairman Lin Baoshui as the new chairman of EVA Air. Lin Baoshui, who previously served as EVA Air’s general manager and chairman, helped the airline achieve an EPS of NT$3.69 during periods of high oil prices and the financial crisis, which was one of the key factors in his selection by the board.

Lin Baoshui pointed out that during his time at EVA Air, he had grown together with the company. The EVA Air board has elected him as chairman, and all procedures were carried out legally by the board. The board believes that under the current circumstances of controversy, it is appropriate to return to having a professional manager lead the team, which is why he was appointed as the current EVA Air chairman today. With his understanding of the aviation industry and good rapport with the EVA Air team, he pledged to give his all to serve the team, improve flight safety and service quality, and make EVA Air even better.

According to EVA Air data, the new chairman Lin Baoshui joined the Evergreen Group in 1976 as an entry-level employee and worked at Evergreen Marine, Evergreen Information Technology, and EVA Air, among others. He was also assigned to work in the U.S. and the U.K. From 2002 to 2004, he served as EVA Air’s general manager, and from 2005 to 2011, he was promoted to chairman. He is currently the chairman of Evergreen Steel. During his tenure as EVA Air chairman, he led the airline through the financial crisis and the era of high oil prices, achieving an EPS of NT$3.69 in 2010. The idea of joining the Star Alliance also began during his term.
