No need to worry if your hotel won’t hold your packages anymore – Japan Post to launch “online shopping pick-up” service

Many Taiwanese travelers enjoy shopping on Japanese websites during their trips to Japan and have their purchases delivered to their hotels, but they sometimes encounter issues such as hotels refusing to accept the packages, leading to time-consuming communication and explanations. Now, Japan Post has announced a new measure that may solve these problems.Japan Post announced on the 15th that it will allow customers to pick up online shopping purchases at post offices, with the service starting on April 1.

Japan Post stated,after shopping online, customers can choose to have their packages delivered to a designated post office. They will receive an email with a pickup code from the shopping website. Once notified that the item has arrived, they can simply bring the pickup code to the designated post office to collect their package.This is very convenient. Except for simple service post offices, approximately 20,000 post office branches across Japan will offer this online shopping pick-up service.

However, customers should note that according to regulations published by Japan Post, the pick-up service is only available for items sent via “Yu-Pack.” The maximum size allowed is approximately 170 cm in combined length, width, and height, with a weight limit of 30 kg. It is also important to check whether the shopping website offers the post office pick-up option.
