Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of U.S. National Parks – Free Entry During 5 Time Periods Throughout the Year

California is home to 8 national parks, each with its own unique features:Redwood National Park, Channel Islands National Park, Death Valley National Park, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and Joshua Tree National Park.



In recent years, the California Tourism Bureau conducted a survey among global visitors to identify their favorite national parks. The analysis revealed that Sequoia National Park is the most popular among the parks. Sequoia National Park preserves the tallest plants on Earth — the California coastal redwoods — with nearly half of the world’s coastal redwoods currently protected within its boundaries.


Walking into the redwood reserve, the towering trees stretch as far as the eye can see, presenting a breathtaking view of immense greenery. Redwoods have strong regenerative abilities; after being struck by lightning or damaged in forest fires, they leave wounds large enough for vehicles to pass through. These are later modified into drivable tree tunnels. Despite the damage, the redwoods continue to thrive. The California Tourism Bureau recommends that confident drivers experience the unique sensation of driving through these tree tunnels.
