When it comes to large scooters, you might think of Yamaha’s TMAX530 or Kymco’s AK550. Although these two scooters already have large displacements and excellent performance, when it comes to the most powerful scooter, they both have to make way for the Aprilia SRV850.

The SRV850 boasts the largest displacement in the scooter world at 839cc, featuring a 90° V-twin engine, delivering a maximum output of 76 horsepower and a top speed exceeding 200 km/h. In terms of performance, it is absolutely the king of the scooter segment.

The V2 engine of this SRV850 was developed by the Piaggio Group and was first used on the Gilera brand large scooter, the GP800. Later, Piaggio determined that Aprilia had a stronger brand advantage in the sales of high-displacement models, so in 2012, the SRV850 replaced the GP800.

Although the SRV850 and the GP800 use the same engine, under the tuning of Aprilia engineers, the water-cooling radiator was reinforced and the oxygen sensor was updated, further enhancing the engine’s horsepower and torque.

For better handling, the SRV850 uses a double-cradle steel tube frame, with the engine mounted on the frame rather than on the rear swingarm like smaller scooters, giving the SRV850 a more stable center of gravity.

Styling-wise, the SRV850 has a distinctly aggressive look. The front adopts the design of the Aprilia RSV4, making it highly recognizable, while the rear is slightly upturned, giving it a sporty vibe.
In terms of electronic control systems, the SRV850 doesn’t hold back either. In addition to ABS, the SRV850 was also the first large scooter to feature an ATC traction control system. Thanks to the ATC, riders can better enjoy the thrill of the SRV850.
