The transition between spring and summer is the season when fireflies appear, and you can see the glowing “fireflies” from March to May. In Hualien, the Danongdafu Plain Forest Park is the earliest place in the country where fireflies emerge, and every year in March and April, a firefly-viewing season is held, marking the beginning of Taiwan’s firefly season.

Besides being the earliest place in the country to see fireflies, the Danongdafu Plain Forest Park is also the largest and most easily accessible firefly-viewing secret forest in Taiwan.

This year’s “2019 Danongdafu Firefly Fun” event also collaborates with 10 surrounding community villages. Not only can you admire the precious fireflies, but there will also be expert-guided tours by local guides, as well as free locally made souvenirs.
