A magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred at 12:01 on March 19, with the epicenter located 18.3 kilometers east of Yilan County Government and a depth of 83.1 kilometers. The quake was felt across northern Taiwan.

Yilan and Taoyuan Xinyi recorded a seismic intensity of level 3, while Taipei Xinyi District, Hsinchu, New Taipei, and Miaoli experienced level 2. Keelung, Taoyuan, and Taipei City felt level 1 shaking.
Earthquake activity has been relatively frequent over the past week. Although the weather bureau has determined this to be normal energy release, daily earthquake preparedness and awareness remain essential.
