Tuscany is an administrative region in Italy. When people mention this place, many think of the serene mountain-town scenery in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun," where the female protagonist healed from the pain of divorce amid such surroundings and rediscovered her life. My first encounter with Tuscany’s scenery was in the small city of Pisa — the orange-red glow of the setting sun spread across the land, making the entire city seem immersed in this wine-like, intoxicating view. This serenity is my impression of Tuscany. Visiting this Thai resort designed with a Tuscan landscape, La Toscana Resort, offers a completely different experience. Beyond the stunning scenery, it also incorporates the rustic, artistic culture of Thailand’s mountain towns, creating a truly unique atmosphere.

La Toscana Resort is located in Pha Pok Village, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This village is filled with various foreign-style resorts, large and small. The largest resort here has over seventy rooms. Originally, Pha Pok Village was a place where wealthy Bangkok residents bought land in the suburbs to build holiday cottages. Gradually, these personal cottages developed into accommodations, turning into resorts and hotels. As a result, the hotels here are not very large, typically having around 20 to 30 rooms, each attracting locals with their own distinctive charm.

The owner of La Toscana Resort originally planned to build a foreign-style resort in this mountain town with a Tuscan-like landscape. Uniquely, all these foreign elements come from within Pha Pok Village — the old wood is sourced from aged houses, the bricks are locally fired, and in this village of just over 700 people, you’ll find builders, carpenters, weavers, and even chefs and waitstaff. Everyone is an amateur, yet each is an artist with their own vision.
