Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yamanashi Hachioji is a stylish family resort under the Hoshino Resorts brand, conveniently located near Tokyo and just a 2-hour JR ride away. Situated between Yamanashi Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture—Japan’s top wine-producing region—it is a winery resort near Mount Fuji.

In winter, the winery resort transforms into a ski resort. For an easy and enjoyable skiing experience, Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yamanashi Hachioji is highly recommended. Not only are ski equipment and abundant children’s ski lessons provided free of charge, but kids under 11 also get free ski lift tickets and there's even a mini ski slope. For those who prefer not to ski, you can enjoy the summer-like pool, the latest children’s water playground, and bubble baths—satisfying both skiing and non-skiing desires in one trip.

The hotel facilities are quite rich, and you can also stroll around the charming Pepper Road for some IG-worthy photos. The evening lighting makes it extra romantic. Everyone is recommended to come here and enjoy an amazing holiday.

At the entrance of Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yamanashi Hachioji, since it is a winery resort, the lobby and interior decor are designed in wine-themed colors.

The check-in lobby. Hoshino RISONARE Yamanashi Hachioji has Chinese-speaking staff, so language communication is smooth.

The lobby is spacious and bright, creating a vacation vibe as soon as you step inside.

During the wait, children can also play with building blocks nearby.

The breathtakingly romantic "Leaf Chapel" was designed with the concept of "two leaves that accidentally meet while floating in the wind through the forest of Mount Hachioji." It won the highest honor in architectural design, the D&AD Award, in 2005.

The Leaf Chapel, surrounded by lush green forests, features "leaf blades" with countless tiny holes arranged in a four-leaf clover pattern. Morning sunlight shines on the pond in front of the chapel. At night, the light emanating from inside the chapel creates a dreamlike scene.

This place is usually not open to the public, but we were led in by hotel staff for photos. I heard this chapel is extremely popular and often fully booked.

The European-style Pepper Road has a different charm in every season. In spring, it's decorated with flower arrangements; in summer, colorful umbrellas; and in autumn and winter, Christmas lights.

Pepper Road is a great place to explore. It features restaurants, wine shops, general stores, cafes, children’s clothing stores, flower shops, cake shops, and daily necessities shops.

There’s also the hotel shop, offering travel essentials, daily goods, local grape-related products, and souvenirs. We bought some delicious grape juice and mochi, and it's such a great place to shop.

Highly recommended to come here for a stroll. My favorite spots were the wine shop and MARUYAMA COFFEE. The premium coffee at MARUYAMA COFFEE is a must-try—the rich and aromatic latte tastes amazing. Thankfully, I bought two packs of coffee beans to bring home and ease my cravings.

At noon, we also dined at the Kiyosato Ham restaurant here, enjoying delicious pizza and curry rice.

The next night, with enchanting lights on and snow falling, it felt super romantic—as if we were in a European town—perfect for taking IG-worthy photos. The kids also had a blast having snowball fights.

There’s also a wood-fired stove café that offers dessert menus, along with hands-on experiences like chopping wood and roasting marshmallows. There's also a small ski slope suitable for toddlers or first-time skiers who may be nervous—very considerate.

The rooms in the hotel are divided into two areas: one is in the main building by the lobby, and the other is on the second and third floors above the Pepper Road shopping street. Rooms in the main lobby building are about 12 tsubo (approx. 40 sqm), while rooms upstairs on Pepper Road are around 21 tsubo (approx. 70 sqm) in size and also offer balconies.

Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yatsugatake in Yamanashi Prefecture, known for its wine production, features rooms and lobbies decorated predominantly in wine-inspired colors. The room types are designed for family stays, with living areas, large tables, and balconies that create a homely atmosphere.

Isn’t the balcony view outside the window just stunning?

The snow scenery we woke up to the next morning was unbelievably romantic. Usually a late riser, our little girl Nuonuo woke up on her own the moment she heard the snow falling—no alarm clock needed at all.

The room provides yoga mats, meditation cushions, indoor and outdoor slippers, as well as kids’ slippers.

You can see Yatsugatake mountain patterns in the room, allowing you to enjoy the view of the mountains from inside.

We really love the design of this large table—it’s not only great for using a laptop, but also perfect for the whole family to chat and enjoy snacks together.

This large table comes equipped with a kettle, ice bucket, cold water pitcher, fridge, tea bags, premium MARUYAMA COFFEE coffee pods, mineral water, and the red and white grape juice we bought from the hotel shop.

There’s also a humidifier underneath. Japanese weather is especially dry, particularly in rooms with the heater on—the nose and skin can get really dry. The humidifier usually runs out of water after about 2–3 hours, so we highly recommend turning it on.

The wooden floor has four beds laid out, which are quite spacious and comfortable. There are reading lamps and power outlets by the beds, and looking out the window, you’ll see the Pepper Road.

The wardrobe is spacious, containing pajamas, a safe, a flashlight, and a shoe brush.

The bathroom has double sinks, bathing and skincare products, amenities, towels, and a hairdryer. The showerhead has strong water pressure, making for a refreshing shower.

Facial care products are also provided.

In addition to toothbrushes, combs, razors, and shower caps, the amenities also include kids’ toothbrushes.

A Panasonic hairdryer that’s easy to use and works great.

This is an open-air bath surrounded by forest—you can soak while enjoying the trees and fresh air. Especially when it snows, with pretty snowflakes falling on your head, it feels absolutely amazing.

Operating hours: 7:00–10:00, 15:00–23:00

Since photography isn’t allowed inside, this is a photo from the official website.

On our first day at the resort, we visited the year-round summer-like pool “il mare” to experience the indoor wave pool with artificial waves. The indoor temperature is kept like summer, and you can rent various swimming gear for water activities. It includes a large wave pool, a kids’ area, and a hot spring area.

The newly opened water play area in July 2018 features fountains and water slides, making it a great spot for kids to play and ideal even for toddlers trying water for the first time.

The kids' water play area is a lot of fun, with wavy slides that let children sway from side to side as they slide down—it’s really amusing.

There are also other types of water play equipment.

An inflatable ball pool in the water.

All kinds of equipment can be rented here.

Dinner at YYgrill follows a main course + buffet style, with a wide variety of dishes including Western, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine. The ingredients are super fresh—you must try vegetables from Yamanashi, local wine, cheese, and grapes.

The buffet at YYgrill offers a very diverse selection of dishes with great quality. There’s a kids’ section with baby congee, minced fish, chicken, and vegetables, as well as favorites for older kids like cheese, fried food, and udon noodles.

We had dinner here for two nights in a row and were very satisfied with the food selection. Especially the homemade grape or apple ice cream, which contains real fruit pieces—we highly recommend it.

The seating area is mainly for four people. For our two families, the staff arranged for us to sit at a table near the wall, so the kids from both families could eat together.

For the main course, adults can choose from fish, beef, pork, seafood, or duck; kids have a choice between beef or hamburger patties. Each of us ordered a glass of red or white wine, while the kids opted for grape juice and pear juice.

The little girl, who usually refuses to eat properly during dinner time, behaved wonderfully tonight — we’re not sure if it was because she met her age-mate Titi or if the food was just that delicious. Not only did she finish her steak nicely alongside the others, but she also ate plenty of Yamanashi’s vegetables without any prompting. It was such a relief for the parents, who could finally enjoy their meal in peace.

What they’re holding is red grape juice. If you like it, the hotel shop also sells it, so you can buy some to enjoy back in your room.

The child’s steak that Niuniu ordered was cooked to about medium rare (70–90% done), and it was incredibly tender and juicy.

Such well-behaved little girls, finishing all their meals by themselves.

For the adults’ main courses, we ordered steak, pork cutlet, and fish fillet, enjoying a relaxing and delicious dinner together.

After dinner, we walked back to our rooms together. In the evening, we soaked in the open-air hot spring while stargazing — absolutely wonderful. The kids fell asleep the moment they got back to their room, already looking forward to the skiing lessons the next day.
