At the 2012 Taipei International Travel Fair, the Malaysian Tourism Board collaborated with Hi-Fly Travel, Smile-Kong Travel, Doubleway International Travel, and Dragon Travel to fight the price hikes. Hi-Fly Travel’s Malaysian “Golden” tour is priced at NT$22,800 (original price: NT$29,500), Dragon Travel’s Sarawak tour offers a NT$5,000 discount for the second traveler, Smile-Kong Travel offers savings of up to NT$3,000, and Doubleway Travel gives away a tablet PC for every two travelers, with a chance to win a New iPad. Additionally, the Malaysian Tourism Board introduced highly discounted packages: during the fair, the first 300 visitors who purchase a tour package and pay a NT$2,000 deposit at the Malaysian Tourism Board booth will receive an exclusive premium adjustable luggage strap. The first 300 travelers signing up for a Sabah tour will also get an eco-friendly Sabah souvenir cup provided by the Sabah Tourism Board.

As for the ancient city of Malacca, which attracts thousands of tourists from around the world every year, it is home to a variety of historical and cultural landmarks from China, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the UK. Whether it’s structures left by Zheng He’s voyages during the Ming Dynasty, or landmarks like the Portuguese A Famosa Gate and the Dutch Stadthuys, visitors feel as though they’ve stepped into medieval Europe.
