As Typhoon Talim gradually moves away, the Chiayi Forest District Office announced that in coordination with the Fifth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways reopening Alishan Highway (Provincial Highway 18), the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area has completed comprehensive environmental cleaning and safety inspections, and reopened at 8:00 AM today. Regarding the Alishan Forest Railway’s Zhushan Line and the Zhaoping–Shenmu shuttle services, full safety inspections are currently underway, with operations scheduled to resume tomorrow (the 23rd).

Previously affected by consecutive impacts from Typhoon Talim and the southwest monsoon, a precautionary road closure was implemented on Provincial Highway 18 Alishan Highway between kilometers 35–61 and 66–88, which were reopened at 7:00 AM yesterday and 1:00 PM yesterday respectively. The Forest District Office reminds the public that due to continuous heavy rainfall, the soil in mountainous areas is highly saturated and prone to falling rocks and landslides. Coupled with unstable weather conditions, visitors should pay extra attention to their personal safety.
