To promote hot spring tourism on the Northern Coast and advocate low-carbon travel, the North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, has partnered with 20 local hot spring and dining businesses since October 23, 2012, to launch the “Northern Coast – Soak in Good Springs & Ride Smart” discount campaign. The event was originally set to run until November 30, 2012; however, in response to the hot spring boom on the Northern Coast and to give more people the chance to enjoy this benefit, the campaign period has been extended to January 31, 2013.

To encourage the use of public transportation to explore the Northern Coast, during the campaign period, visitors who take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Crown Northern Coast Line or any bus passing through the Northern Coast, and then make purchases at participating businesses displaying the Northern Coast Hot Spring Tourism logo—such as staying overnight, soaking in hot springs, dining, or shopping with a total spend of NT$999—can present their receipts and transportation tickets (e.g., Taiwan Tourist Shuttle tickets, ride vouchers, or an EasyCard statement) to redeem one NT$199 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Crown Northern Coast Line ticket package. Each package includes one Taiwan Tourist Shuttle ticket, one one-way train ticket from Banqiao to Keelung, and one coupon for a Liu Family Zongzi meal set. Limited to 1,000 packages, while supplies last.
Participating businesses include Yangmingshan Heavenly Sound Hot Spring Resort, Bayan Hot Spring Resort, Yangmingshan Shanshui Resort, Tangyu Shuangquan, Qifeng Stone Hot Spring Villa, Green Peak Hot Spring Resort, San Francisco Governor’s Hot Spring Resort, Golden Bay Hot Spring Resort, Golden Youth Activity Center, Wanli Wonderland Hot Spring Resort, Pacific Jade Bay Hot Spring Resort Hotel, Datang Hot Spring Story, and Liu Family Zongzi, among others.
