Exclusive Report: Japan’s First “Minions-Themed Room” Lets You Take Home the Toiletry Kit and Room Key

To celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, Universal Port Hotel in Japan has launched from Aprilthe “Minions-Themed Room”. ETtoday EVA Air News Cloud will take readers through the door in this article to get a glimpse of the yellow, adorable charm hidden behind the door, as well as the unforgettable details inside the room.

Suzuki Takashi, Head of Marketing Department at Universal Port Hotel, said that to celebrate the hotel's 10th birthday, they specially collaborated with Universal Studios Japan. The design concept is “to recreate the Minions' room from the movie, making it seem like the Minions from Universal Studios Japan came to play at the hotel,” bringing the Minions’ room from the film into reality and offering guests a brand-new lodging experience.

Upon visiting, you’ll see the special cabin-style door as soon as you approach. By pressing the doorbell, you can hear the Minions greet you with a “Ha-up!”; opening the door, the first thing you see is a whole wall of Minions pushing and shoving each other. Suzuki Takashi explained that the most distinctive feature of the room is the wall wallpaper and the full-length mirror hanging on the wall—they are exactly the same as the Minions’ room in the movie. And looking up at the ceiling, you’ll find a big hole, which was made by the Minions breaking something—an amusing and cute design that fans find absolutely adorable.

The beds that accompany guests to sleep are, of course, the stars of the room. Designed with the rocket tube shape from the movie Despicable Me, there are two single beds, covered with bright yellow sheets full of Minions, and the pillows are, of course, yellow too !

Another highlight is the red crocodile sofa in the corner of the room. When guests need an extra bed, the crocodile sofa can be separated to become a double bed. This diverse and thoughtful design makes it suitable for families, couples, or groups of friends.

In the Minions guest room, the amenities are, of course, unique as well. The Minions-shaped toiletry kit containing various toiletries allows guests to take it home. Matching the bright yellow theme of the Minions, the cups and hairdryer are also yellow—no detail is overlooked.

Suzuki Takashi also mentioned that not only can guests take the toiletry kit home, but they are also given a Minions-shaped room key, a themed tote bag hanging in the room, and occasionally changing limited-time small gifts. For example, from now until the end of June, guests receive a Minions picnic mat, which will change after July, ensuring every stay comes with a surprise.

Aside from the themed guest rooms, Minions designs can also be seen throughout the lobby of Universal Port Hotel, including elevators, Minions doll displays, and a calendar stand showing the check-in date, perfect for photo memories. The children’s play area also features a TV wall continuously playing scenes from Despicable Me and Minions movies. The service counters for check-in and check-out are, of course, also Minions-themed. If you look closely at the aquarium behind the staff, you can even see Minions swimming around underwater !
