After Facebook officially announced the world’s 25 most popular check-in spots in 2013, the popular app — Instagram, which was acquired by Facebook in 2012, also recently released its 2013 list of popular photo-taking spots, with Thailand’s Siam Paragon in Bangkok taking the top spot, followed by New York’s Times Square and California’s Disneyland in the U.S. in second and third place respectively.

The information released by Instagram on its official blog shows that among its numerous users, the most popular photo check-in spot is the Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand, which opened in December 2005. The mall claims to be Asia’s largest shopping center, covering an area of 500,000 square meters. Its Main Floor features world-renowned luxury brands such as Chanel and Burberry, as well as rare top-tier boutiques like Harry Winston and Frank Muller—all available at globally synchronized prices.

Taking second place is New York’s Times Square, a triangular wedge of land carved out by Broadway and 7th Avenue, named after The New York Times moving into the area in 1905. The most famous event at Times Square is undoubtedly the New Year’s Eve countdown, which originated in 1904 when The New York Times chose to move into its new building in the square on New Year’s Eve and celebrated with a midnight fireworks display. This tradition has continued every year since, and on December 31st each year, a 200-pound crystal ball is hung atop One Times Square Plaza. At the stroke of midnight, the ball descends and scatters countless ribbons in celebration.

In third place is Disneyland in California, USA, which opened in 1955 as the world’s first Disney theme park. It may be older than many people, but its rides and services keep up with the times and show no signs of aging. Everything here is fresh and full of classic American Disney charm, making it the quintessential version in the Disney park series.

As for fourth to tenth place, they are, in order: Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas, USA; Disney World in Florida, USA; Staples Center in Los Angeles, USA; Central Park in New York, USA; Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, USA; Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, Thailand; and The High Line in New York, USA.
