The annual cherry blossom festival at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is coming to an end, making way for the “Lavender Season” — a new wave of romance in delicate shades of purple. With more than 100,000 Spanish lavender and salvia plants, the Shuisalian European Garden will be blanketed in vibrant purple blooms. To celebrate, the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village has declared March 9 (the second Sunday of March) as the “Formosan Aboriginal Purple Valentine’s Day.” Couples dressed in purple outfits who visit on that day can take part in the “Purple Love Flash” activity. At 3:09 PM, couples posing together for an intimate 60-second moment will receive a small Formosan Aboriginal lavender keepsake. Those wearing officially purchased purple couple outfits from the park that day can present their receipts for an additional exclusive lavender gift.

Additionally, during the Lavender Season, the “Purple Love March Music Concerts” will also take place. Highlights include the “Taiwan Map” performance by the Taiwan Traditional Music Orchestra on March 9, the “Flower Love Recorder Concert” by the Taiwan Recorder Ensemble on the 16th, a performance by OPO Vocal Choir on the 23rd, the “Blossoms, Melodies, and Colorful Dance” performance by the Xinyue Chamber Music Ensemble on the 29th, and the Pegasus Creative String Quartet on April 6.
