The Taipei City Government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems and Public Works has specially recommended that couples visit the Dadaocheng Wharf at Yanping Riverside Park to enjoy the sunset stroll together and spend a romantic evening; they can also go to the Chengmei Left and Right Bank Riverside Park to hang love locks, walk hand in hand across the Rainbow Bridge, and admire various love-themed landscapes perfect for couple photos, capturing the sweetest moments.

On White Day, March 14, after work, couples can start by holding hands at Raohe Night Market for snacks and a sweet night market stroll, then enter Chengmei Riverside Park through the Keelung River Floodgate No. 4 (Raohe Evacuation Gate). Both the left and right banks feature various love-themed facilities. For example, there are “I Love You” signs in 12 languages—can you manage to say them all? You can sit on the lover’s stone bench shaped like the word FOREVER and admire the colorful light sculptures along the riverbanks, or hang a love lock on the “LOVE” or “IOU” sculptures, then walk hand in hand across the beautiful Rainbow Bridge for a sweet and romantic evening.

The Water Resources Bureau also recommends another great spot to celebrate the occasion—Yanping Riverside Park. Couples can first explore the nearby Dihua Street shopping area and Yongle Market, visit the Moon God at Xia Hai City God Temple, then enter the riverside park through Floodgate No. 5 (Dadaocheng Wharf). Here, you’ll find a Blue Highway dock, a coffee plaza, and a Tangshan sailboat. Couples can stroll hand in hand along the riverside, enjoy street performances, and take in the famous sunset over the Tamsui River.

Couples who prefer a sporty and healthy route can rent bicycles here and cycle along the riverside bike path toward Tamsui, enjoying views of Yangmingshan and the Tamsui River sunset along the way. Alternatively, those leaning toward a retro and hipster vibe can cycle south to Taipei Confucius Temple and Dalongdong Bao’an Temple, savoring the rich cultural and historical heritage together and celebrating a unique White Day.

1. MRT: Take the Brown Line to “Taipei City Hall” Station, exit from Exit 2, transfer to Bus Blue 7 and get off at Songshan Station. Walk straight past Bade Road, then enter the alley (Lane 763) to the right of Ciyun Temple, go all the way to the end (embankment), turn left onto Songhe Street for about 150 meters to reach “Floodgate No. 4 (Raohe Evacuation Gate)”, then enter Chengmei Left Bank Riverside Park from there.
2. Train: Get off at Songshan Station and walk to the destination
Yanping Riverside Park:
1. MRT: Transfer to Red 33 at Shuanglian Station and get off at Dadaocheng Wharf Station
2. Bus: Take Bus 9, 206, 274, 641, 669, or 704 to Dadaocheng Wharf Station; or Bus 255, 518, or 539 to Minsheng West Road Intersection Station, then walk about 10 minutes toward the end of Minsheng West Road.
