The long-awaited Jamie’s Italian officially grand opened on Tuesday, July 29. Situated on the second floor of Midtown at Golden Plaza Phase II on Tang Lung Street in Causeway Bay, the restaurant can accommodate up to 200 guests at once, offering them a relaxing, comfortable, and homely dining environment and culinary experience.
The long-awaited Jamie’s Italian officially grand opened on Tuesday, July 29. Situated on the second floor of Midtown at Golden Plaza Phase II on Tang Lung Street in Causeway Bay, the restaurant can accommodate up to 200 guests at once, offering them a relaxing, comfortable, and homely dining environment and culinary experience.

Jamie’s Italian presents a range of dishes made from traceable and sustainable fresh ingredients, with meticulous but unpretentious cooking styles. Guests can also enjoy an open view of the cooking process — from the pasta master crafting fresh pasta at the in-house pasta station, chefs preparing fresh charcuterie platters at the antipasti bar, to the team preparing each dish with care in the open kitchen.

The design concept of each global Jamie’s Italian branch is unique, and the Hong Kong location is no exception. The British design firm Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS) has specially incorporated many design elements that reflect local culture and characteristics for the Hong Kong branch.For example, a shipping container is placed in the kitchen area as a nod to Causeway Bay’s history as a fishing village, while vibrant colors and unique design techniques embody the idea of “letting food take center stage.”

To highlight a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, a large wall in the restaurant features graffiti art inspired by Hong Kong culture, designed by Jamie Oliver’s friend and art enthusiast Barnaby Purdy. Having collaborated multiple times with Jamie’s restaurants, Barnaby created a graffiti piece for Jamie’s Italian Hong Kong depicting a dragon guarding Hong Kong against alluring mermaids and storms — colorful and rich with Eastern flair. In addition to Barnaby’s personal design, local Hong Kong artist Barlo also contributed, showcasing a piece themed around the Chinese fu dog on another wall of the restaurant.
Since the opening of the first Jamie’s Italian in Oxford, UK in 2008, the restaurant chain has continuously expanded across regions, now operating 40 branches in the UK, Europe, and Asia. The Hong Kong branch will be led by General Manager Stella Cheng and Executive Chef Adrian Kavanagh.
