National Geographic125Year Classic Photo Exhibition Valentine's Day Event

To create a lasting memory for Valentine’s Day, the “125 Years of National Geographic” cover light corridor is the perfect romantic spot to capture timeless memories. The “Explore Infinite: 125 Years of National Geographic Classic Images Exhibition” is currently being held at the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung. On February 8 (Saturday), Valentine’s Day, visitors who present two ticket stubs,kiss at the exhibition entrance, take a photo and check in, can enter a lucky draw for chocolate wine gift boxes, Austrian jams, classic image postcards, or the iPad edition of National Geographic. Jacklan Ghost Festival Painted Water Lanterns Romantic Lantern Release for Qixi Festival

The Jacklan Ghost Festival will reach its much-anticipated climax with the grand Water Lantern Parade next Saturday (August 9). This coming Saturday (August 2), on the evening of Qixi Valentine’s Day, a preliminary Painted Prayer Water Lantern Release will be held at Ocean Plaza, allowing the general public to experience this unique local tradition of releasing water lanterns. Participants can also express their wishes and prayers creatively on the lanterns.Award-winning entries from the Creative Water Lantern Design Competition organized by the Keelung City Government prior to the event will also be on display. These uniquely imaginative lanterns offer participants an artistic treat alongside the lantern release.

2014Youth Future Film Festival: Witnessing the Past and the Future

Where to go in the sweltering summer? Aside from eating ice cream, shopping, or staying in air-conditioned spaces, you can head to an art museum to watch movies. Young directors from around the world showcase their most representative and promising short films, all carefully selected and presented to you. The [2014 Youth Future Film Festival] is an international short film festival organized, curated, and planned by youth groups. The [2014 Youth %? Future Film Festival] embodies an aesthetic spirit of diversity, vitality, locality, self-discovery, and social awareness. “These are the issues we truly care about, and this is a film festival that truly belongs to the new generation,” said curator Wei-Lun Lin confidently.

Now in its fifth year, the Contemporary Youth Film Festival has collaborated with the “Future Film Day” team to organize the “2014 Youth Future Film Festival.” Time is the fairest resource given to us by God. From the perspective of the absolute self, it discusses the linear continuation of the past, present, and future. Some describe time as a long river, flowing continuously from ancient times to the present. From the relative perspective of the other self—such as juniors, peers, seniors; children, fathers, grandfathers—time may resemble more of a cycle, shaped by understanding, communication, and imagination. In the Mayday song “Dry,” the lyrics go, “Now is that future, that world.” Imagine when the imagined future finally arrives, will we be ready to embrace it? Envisioning the future is actually an exercise in facing oneself, strengthening the exploration and reflection of the meaning of “now/NOW” in our existence. The “past” shapes the “present,” and the “present” creates the “future.” That glimmer in the eyes of those dreaming about the future is what we call “youth.”
