Travel includes short trips across counties or cities within the country, as well as long-distance journeys to other countries. Travel is very important to everyone, and we always need to pack our bags every so often, leave home, and stay at someone else’s place.

Because when you’re in a different place, try street food, experience local customs and culture, immerse yourself in the local way of life, carefully select souvenirs, overcome challenges in unfamiliar surroundings, experience new things, accumulate many flights, broaden your horizons, and collect every scenic spot on the map. Travel is about leaving the familiar surroundings of daily life and returning with a different state of mind.

The monotony of daily life, day after day, can make us feel like soulless rubber people, sometimes causing us to forget the meaning of living, and lose our passion and dedication for life.

Japanese author Haruki Murakami said, “Travel is mostly rather tiring. But some knowledge can only be learned through exhaustion. Some joys can only be gained after being completely worn out. This is the truth I have found through continuing to travel.”

American author Miriam Beard believed that “Travel is not just about seeing scenery, but about ceaselessly changing our thoughts about life—in a deep and lasting way.”

Roman Republic orator and politician Cicero advocated that “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page—not to gain enough, but to rest the soul.”

We are like roses kept in a glass case, protected and sheltered. Only by leaving the familiar environment and stepping outside the frame can we see how vast and worth exploring the world beyond really is.

Ancient proverb: Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles.

The French poet Baudelaire once said, “I think I would be happy if I went to a place I’ve never been to.”

During a trip, you can always discover new things you’ve never seen before, which remains endlessly fascinating. Travel is an activity full of fun and novelty. At the same time, you might encounter various unexpected events during your journey—such as bus delays, lost luggage, taking a wrong turn and ending up going way out of your way, booking errors, having your wallet stolen, the shop you planned to visit being closed for a whole month, or falling ill... You have to learn to overcome these challenges and handle them wisely.

When you’re in a new and unfamiliar environment, your self-protection mechanism makes your five senses more acute, and because you pay extra attention, you leave with deeper impressions.

When traveling alone, you’ll have more opportunities to meet different kinds of people. You’ll also find more courage to strike up a conversation with strangers you come across. You become curious about their lives and eager to hear their stories. You may have thought you weren’t good at making friends, but you end up having a great chat with a stranger in a foreign place.

It’s then that you realize you’re actually quite sociable, and that you’re not as afraid of strangers as you thought. You get to know another side of yourself—a change brought about by travel. Travel is not only about embracing nature, but also about reconnecting with your truest self.
