Known as Japan’s largest winter light festival, the “Winter Illumination” at Nagashima Spa Land’s Meihan no Sato in Mie Prefecture kicked off on October 25, 2014, and ran until March 31, 2015. Meihan no Sato is a large outdoor park themed around seasonal flowers and is known for having Japan’s largest “Flower Plaza.” A variety of flowers bloom throughout the seasons. During the winter illumination period, the beauty of nature is also interpreted through various light displays.

This year’s Winter Illumination event used approximately850hundred thousand100meters of120light bulbs to create a magnificent spectacle. In addition to the 100-meter Light Corridor, this year also featured a Niagara Falls light display over
meters wide, showcasing dazzling lights that create a breathtaking scene, along with a starry Light Cloud Sea that sparkles like the Milky Way—also making a return this year. The display uses bulbs to weave together various beautiful seasonal landscapes.
