August marks the season when golden needle flowers bloom brilliantly. The picturesque Shiliushi Mountain, with its stunning mountain scenery, is often hailed as the most European-flavored place. Every year during the golden needle flower season, the vast sea of flowers spanning 70 hectares always attracts large numbers of visitors and photography enthusiasts to enjoy the European-style mountain views and golden flower fields.

The name "Shiliushi Mountain" is quite unique. It’s said to have been named for its abundance of rocks. Compared to Taitung’s Golden Needle Mountain, which has a more upright terrain, Shiliushi Mountain features particularly many rocks, a gentler topography, and is slightly larger in area—resembling an enlarged garden bonsai, famed for its expansive beauty. At an altitude of about 800 meters, standing at the highest point, Wangyou Pavilion, offers a sweeping view where you can gaze over the valley streams, farmlands, and settlements. You can even catch the sunrise, with the beautiful scenery resembling a layered Swiss-style painting. The slopes and valleys are adorned with seas of golden needle flowers, like orange-yellow floral carpets spread across the green forests and fields, and rooftops. Occasionally, you’ll spot farmers wearing flowered straw hats, bending over to pick the golden needles—a picturesque humanistic scene.

To allow visitors to not only admire the flowers but also enjoy a deeper experience, the Chinese Green Lifestyle Leisure Development Association is hosting three sessions of the "Golden Allure Tour of Shiliushi Mountain" and "The Joyful Beauty of Golden Needle Flowers at Chikeshan Mountain" from August 24–26, August 28–30, and September 12–13. This allows visitors to go beyond just a cursory glance at Shiliushi Mountain and Chikeshan Mountain. Led by professional guides, participants can gain a deeper understanding of the local ecology and culture, and also taste the healthiest, most natural, and eco-friendly sulfur-free golden needle specialty meals. It’s a deep flower and food journey to experience the most beautiful summer rendezvous brought by thousands of golden needle flowers.
