Taiwan Designer's Week: Black and White Tone Exploration Launches

Taiwan’s annual design extravaganza, “Taiwan Designer's Week,” enters its ninth year. In 2015, it will once again be held from October 2 to 11 at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. With the theme “EXPLORATION,” the event extends design works into everyday life, sparking boundless imagination. This year’s scale surpasses previous editions, inviting over 200 designers and 66 design-related brands to participate, making it highly anticipated.

Taiwan Designer's Week (TWDW) is a design event initiated by grassroots efforts. Since 2007, the first edition, “Let’s Talk,” organized by a group of industrial designers, garnered participation from over 200 designers. Through various themes, it created opportunities for dialogue between designers and the general public, as well as between industries and designers, attracting around 50,000 attendees. Over the following eight years, Taiwan Designer's Week was held annually at venues such as Huashan 1914 Creative Park, Expo Park’s Competition Hall, and Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. In addition to showcasing the diverse aspects of Taiwanese design through thematic exhibitions, the event continued to gather design talent across various fields in Taiwan. With activities such as design forums, designer shop connections, open studios, design markets, and design film screenings, Taiwan Designer's Week has become a platform for sharing and exchanging design ideas.

This year, in addition to featuring over 60% new exhibitors, the event also hosts as many as 11 special programs, including the main theme exhibition, Design Star Power, Design Industry Image Exhibition, forums, thematic joint exhibitions, design matchmaking sessions, and Design Strolls. These offerings allow all visitors to explore Taiwan’s excellent design from multiple perspectives.
