According to the forecast from the Central Weather Bureau, the seventh typhoon, Tropical Storm Chanthu (international name: CHANTHU), has its center located at 26.9 degrees north latitude and 144.9 degrees east longitude. It is moving north-northwest at a speed of 18 to 26 kilometers per hour. The central pressure of the typhoon is 985 hPa, with the maximum wind speed near the center reaching 25 meters per second, and gusts up to 33 meters per second. The radius of the area with typhoon-force winds (Beaufort scale 7) is 150 kilometers.
High temperatures are widespread across Taiwan. In the northern, Taipei, and Keelung areas, thunderstorms are likely in mountainous regions in the afternoon, while coastal areas and outlying islands may experience long-period swells. Temperatures could reach as high as 36 degrees Celsius. In the western part of Taiwan, south of Taoyuan, temperatures will peak at around 32–34 degrees Celsius. Afternoon thunderstorms may also occur briefly in mountainous areas. In southern regions, influenced by low pressure, localized brief showers are expected with a 60–70% chance of rain, so it's advisable to carry rain gear. In southeastern Taiwan and on Orchid Island, showers or thunderstorms are possible—stay cautious of long-period swells. In Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung, the weather is cloudy due to thermal effects, with unstable conditions featuring brief cloudy periods, showers, or thunderstorms. With soaring temperatures recently, remember to stay hydrated, protect yourself from the sun, and carry rain gear in case of rain.
