In the summer of 2016, Japan was hit by frequent typhoons. After Typhoon No. 9, the famous tourist attraction Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido, was damaged, leaving many visitors deeply disappointed. Local residents also expressed great regret. Two to three weeks later, the pond remained turbid, its once ethereal beauty gone, and there was no certainty on when it could recover.

Hokkaido is home to another scenic spot similar to Blue Pond — Bird Marsh Park in Furano. After being hit by Typhoon No. 10, it still retained its originally clear lake water and fairy-tale-like scenery, which many netizens called a “miracle after the typhoon”! Under certain lighting and weather conditions, the lake water at Bird Marsh Park also appears crystal-clear blue, leading some to call it the “Blue Pond of Bird Marsh Park.”
