As Typhoon Meranti is moving directly toward Taiwan and its path may shift southward, potentially making landfall in southeastern Taiwan, the central and southern regions will be more severely affected. The northern areas should also be wary of heavy rain and strong winds. The timing of Typhoon Meranti’s approach coincides with the Mid-Autumn holiday. According to the “Key Points on Labor Attendance Management and Wage Payment in the Event of Natural Disasters,” the Mid-Autumn holiday is already a national holiday, and no compensatory leave is required if a typhoon day is declared. In response to the typhoon situation, both Taiwan Railways and Taiwan High Speed Rail have contingency measures in place to minimize disruptions to Mid-Autumn travel. Travelers planning trips or returning home during this period should stay updated on flight and train schedules and prepare for the typhoon accordingly.
