A New Hotspot Rivaling Tsutaya Bookstore: Taiwan’s Most Beautiful Coffee & Book Boutique

Known as Japan’s most beautiful bookstore, Tsutaya BOOKSTORE is a multi-concept space that combines books, audiovisual media, coffee, internet access, light meals, and cocktails. Recently, it opened at Taipei’s Uni-President Department Store, creating a huge sensation. Originally slated for the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel in Tainan, the plan fell through due to unmatched conditions. The hotel then transformed the originally designated space into a coffee bookstore, creating a multi-format bookstore that rivals Tsutaya.

Bar16 Grand Hi-Lai Book Boutique uses calm and understated wooden tones to create a tranquil and elegant ambiance. Its open-shelf reading area offers free access to visitors, featuring everything from language learning materials and magazines to children’s books. Visitors can also enjoy world-class estate specialty coffee, immersing themselves in an aromatic blend of coffee and literature in the afternoon. The Book Boutique plans to expand to major locations across Taiwan, establishing unique and beautiful bookstores.
