No need to fly to Japan for BAKE CHEESE TART anymore — one in Taiwan is just 70 NT dollars

Selling one in under two seconds, the legendary cheese tart brand BAKE CHEESE TART, which sold 20 million units in a year, will open its first store in Taiwan on June 15 on the first floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Nanshi 3rd Branch. Each BAKE CHEESE TART is priced at 70 NT dollars, while a box of six is 390 NT dollars.

BAKE CHEESE TART originates from Hokkaido, Japan, and Taiwan is its fifth overseas location. The Taiwan flagship store is the brand’s 19th branch. BAKE CHEESE TART focuses on “one brand, one product,” exclusively selling cheese tarts. It uses Japanese cheese from Hakodate and Beniya regions, as well as French salted cheese, blending the three in specific proportions to create a unique mousse filling. The tart crust is pre-baked once before arriving at the store, then baked again with the filling on-site — this “double baking” method gives the crust an exceptionally crispy texture.

For its Taiwan expansion, BAKE CHEESE TART will ship semi-finished frozen products to Taiwan by sea. Masataka Inmaki, head of overseas operations, explained that the semi-finished products have the cheese tart filling injected into the crust before being frozen, and are then twice-baked at the Taiwan stores. He noted that the Hong Kong branch, which has been open for a year, sees an average wait time of around two hours, selling up to 6,000 units per day. He expects similar results for the Taiwan flagship store.

With summer approaching, BAKE CHEESE TART is also tapping into the chilled dessert market by introducing “Premium Milk Soft Serve,” available only in Japan until now. This premium soft serve is made from Hokkaido milk with very low water content and high milk solids, resulting in a creamy texture akin to whipped cream, and comes in generous portions totaling 6.5 rotations on the scoop.
