Penghu’s famous tourist marvel “Moses Parting the Sea” features a long, winding S-shaped gravel path that emerges during low tide, allowing visitors to walk to Chiyu Islet. This unique spectacle, reminiscent of the biblical miracle, has become a popular sightseeing spot. However, the influx of large crowds has led to damage to the terrain, prompting the Penghu Scenic Area Administration to restrict public access to the islet starting in April.

To protect marine ecology and ensure visitor safety, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will implement access controls from April. During the peak season from April to September, between 6:00 AM and 6:30 PM, access will be limited to an area 7.5 meters on either side of the centerline of the walking trail, and island entry will be prohibited altogether thereafter. The Penghu Administration stated that boundary control lines and informational signs will be put up to remind visitors.
