The Taichung City Government Transportation Bureau, aiming to provide diverse public transportation services and ensure basic mobility rights for residents in remote areas, has planned the city’s first “yellow taxi bus” — Yellow Route 1 (Fengyuan–Fengyuan Baseball Stadium), which operates as an on-demand taxi service. Not only is it free for tourists, but it also upgrades the original bus service. The bus will feature special livery so passengers can easily recognize it, and each bus stop will display the yellow taxi bus schedule along with a reservation phone number. Additionally, the bureau will distribute informational leaflets to help everyone understand how to use the service.

The yellow taxi bus route runs from Sanmin Road of Fengyuan Bus, passing landmarks such as the Mazu Temple, Fengyuan Hospital, Fengyuan High School, and ending at Fengyuan Baseball Stadium. Departure times from Sanmin Road, Fengyuan, are 9:50 AM, 1:20 PM, and 2:10 PM daily; departure times from Fengyuan Baseball Stadium are 10:15 AM, 1:45 PM, and 2:35 PM daily.

Although the yellow taxi bus has fixed departure times, since each taxi can carry only three to four passengers, riders are required to make reservations in advance. It is recommended to book the day before your intended ride to allow the fleet to arrange vehicles accordingly. If there are many reservations, additional taxis will be deployed to accommodate passengers.

By using the flexibility of taxis to replace conventional bus services, the initiative serves elderly individuals, those with limited mobility, or travelers carrying large luggage. This approach aims to achieve a win-win-win outcome for the public, the taxi industry, and the municipal government.

Reservations for the yellow taxi bus opened on March 30. The reservation hotline is (04)2436-6666, available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Travelers are encouraged to make use of this service.
