With spring in full swing, the renowned King Yoshino Cherry Tree in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area has burst into bloom. From now until early April, the area will be blanketed in snow-white romance thanks to the Yoshino cherries.
With spring in full swing, the renowned King Yoshino Cherry Tree in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area has burst into bloom. From now until early April, the area will be blanketed in snow-white romance thanks to the Yoshino cherries.

The cherry king tree in front of the Alishan Work Station has fully bloomed, while Yoshino cherry trees along both sides of the Alishan Police Station have also begun to flower successively. Meanwhile, mist mountain cherries, Tangshi cherries, Ryukyu cherries, crimson cold cherries, Taiwanese slipper orchids, and various magnolias are in full bloom. Double-petal cherry blossoms will make their appearance in April. As the third day of the third lunar month approaches, the Dappled Brown Moth has also emerged at the Zhenzhen Temple.

The floral spectacle in the area is nearing its peak. Visitors planning to come for the blossoms are advised to visit on non-holidays or during off-peak hours to better appreciate the beauty of the flowers in a more serene atmosphere. Also, as mountain weather is highly changeable, it is recommended to bring warm clothing and rain gear.

To manage the influx of visitors coming to view the blossoms during the Qingming holiday, traffic control measures for the Alishan Flower Season holidays will be extended until April 4. On the Chiayi side (at 65.5K Hudi on Provincial Highway 18) from 6–11 AM, and on the Nantou side (at 145K Tatacha on Provincial Highway 21), from 7–11 AM, small vehicles are prohibited from entering during control hours unless in possession of proper documentation or under special circumstances.
The Forestry Bureau, Chiayi, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Highways, has set up a temporary ticket booth at 61K on Provincial Highway 18 (BaBa New Village). Visitors who pay for and transfer to shuttle buses at this location to go up the mountain can purchase discounted Alishan Recreation Area tickets at 25% off (NT$200 for domestic adult full-price tickets, NT$150 with public transport discount).
During the flower season, motorcycles are completely prohibited from entering the park. Sections of Provincial Highway 18 between 87–88.2K are designated as parking zones for buses and motorcycles, while the section between 88.5–95K is designated for cars. Please park your vehicles according to on-site staff instructions and relevant signage. To serve visitors who park outside the service area, ten temporary shuttle stations have been set up between 89.5K–95K on Provincial Highway 18, providing shuttle services between those points and the Alishan Entrance Transfer Station (operating from 8–17 on weekdays, and 4–17 on holidays).
