Since the completion of Taipei 101 in 2004, which held the title of the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, other countries have followed suit in constructing their own record-breaking skyscrapers. Currently, Taipei 101 ranks as the ninth tallest in the world. Amid the global trend of towering skyscrapers, New York City in the United States is also set to build a U-shaped skyscraper called "The Big Bend." Once completed, this building will be the longest in the world.

This skyscraper is designed by the American design firm Oiio Studio, which recently released the building’s design plans. Shaped like an inverted U, the structure will have a total length of about 4,000 feet (1.2 kilometers). Oiio Studio stated that developers aimed to construct a high-rise using minimal land, so they conceived the idea of creating the longest building rather than the tallest—and thus designed this U-shaped tower.
