Spring ushers in a profusion of blooms, with vibrant flower seas adorning every corner of Taiwan. After the pink cherry blossoms, golden jacarandas, and romantic wisteria, the bright pink-purple water hyacinths have quietly and passionately bloomed beside the National Freeway 3 Linbian Interchange in Linbian Township, Pingtung. The vast expanse of pink-purple flowers rivals the vibrancy of cherry blossoms and wisteria, transporting visitors into a dreamlike fairy-tale world—making it one of spring’s hidden floral gems. The water hyacinth’s hollow, bulbous stalk resembles a gourd, allowing it to float on the water’s surface as a floating aquatic plant. Growing either on the water or in muddy soil, its striking blue-purple petals are particularly eye-catching.
