With summer arriving, the “cooling desserts boom” market worth up to 4 billion has prompted major brands to roll out unique frozen treats to capture the market. ZAKUZAKU, Tokyo’s trendiest street-style dessert brand from Hokkaido, following its pompom puffs, has once again launched a limited-edition Hokkaido milk soft serve ice cream. The oversized 6½-loop serving comes in a generous portion, priced at NT$138 per cup. The highlight of this milk soft serve is the sprinkling of ZAKUZAKU’s signature crispy almond bits. Packaged in a cup for easy handling and enjoyment—even when melted, it won’t stick to your hands. It will be exclusively available at ZAKUZAKU’s first store in Taipei’s ShinYi New World A11 from May 12 to June 10.

Hailing from Hokkaido, ZAKUZAKU is known for its freshly made pompom puffs, hailed as the “ultimate street-style dessert.” Since opening its only overseas branch at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 at the end of 2016, it has drawn astonishingly long queues. Enthusiastically recommended by netizens, it has garnered over 10,000 check-ins on social media. The opening craze continues unabated, with weekend stocks often selling out by the afternoon.

Capitalizing on the strong popularity of ZAKUZAKU among Taiwanese consumers, its sole Taiwan distributor, Jerry’s Food Group, has once again introduced the brand’s signature ice cream—previously only sold in Japan—to capture the local summer frozen treat market. The promotion will last just one month. ZAKUZAKU prides itself on using premium ingredients from Hokkaido, Japan—renowned for its exceptional ice creams. For this release, ZAKUZAKU has specially imported authentic Japanese soft serve machines and ingredients to bring Japan’s signature rich, creamy milk soft serve to Taiwan. This gives ZAKUZAKU fans not only their beloved puffs but also a wholly new summer flavor option. Depending on customer response, the promotion may be extended further.
