Standing high above the ground and gazing at the endless scenic views, overlooking plains, canyons, and city streets, is truly refreshing and can make all your worries momentarily fade away. Skywalks and high-altitude suspension bridges have in recent years become popular among many tourists and internet users. The thrilling and magnificent views are their biggest draw. Below is a list of seven newly opened skywalks and suspension bridges in 2017, each offering unobstructed, expansive views.

1. Taoyuan – Xinxikou Suspension Bridge
Located in Taoyuan, the Xinxikou Suspension Bridge has been structurally completed, but as surrounding facilities are still under construction, it is scheduled to open to the public by the end of 2017. The bridge spans 303 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width, connecting Jiaobanshan and Xikou Plateau as it crosses the Dahan River. Once completed, it will surpass Pingtung’s Shan Chuan Liuli Suspension Bridge to become Taiwan’s longest “hammock-style suspension bridge.”

2. Hualien – Chinpuuzi Skywalk
Hualien’s Fengbin Township unveils its new attraction, the “Chinpuuzi” Skywalk, featuring a transparent reinforced glass walkway that offers an especially thrilling experience along with stunning coastal views. The 150-meter-long skywalk showcases the beautiful scenery of Hualien. Following its trial operation on July 1st, it garnered significant attention from visitors, attracting 1,500 people within a single day.

On July 12th, a visitor threw a rock at the reinforced glass surface of the skywalk, causing a one-meter crack. After emergency repairs, it reopened to the public (Image Provided / Fengbin Township Office)
3. Nantou – Qingjing High-Altitude Viewing Trail
A new highlight for Qingjing Farm tourism and Taiwan’s first barrier-free high-mountain sky trail, the Qingjing High-Altitude Viewing Trail was launched in May. It not only provides views of Nantou’s mountain landscapes but is also wheelchair and stroller accessible. Visitors can stroll through grasslands and woods, feeling as though they’re walking on clouds while overlooking the mountain ranges and open wilderness.
