With typhoons forming in succession, Typhoon No. 9 Nesat (international name: Nesat, Cambodian name), the one likely to actually impact Taiwan, officially developed into a mild typhoon around 12:20 noon on the 26th, located over the sea east of the Philippines. Its projected path is moving northward and may shift slightly left to affect northeastern and northern regions of Taiwan. Whether a sea warning will be issued still requires close observation of its movement.

Due to vigorous development of convective cloud systems, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. From the 26th to the 27th, there is a probability of localized heavy rain in Nantou, areas south of Yunlin, and mountainous regions north of Taichung. Thunderstorms and strong gusts should also be watched out for. It’s the height of summer vacation season, with many people planning trips. In the coming days, pay close attention to weather changes, especially whether the typhoon will affect Taiwan over the weekend, and remain vigilant about travel safety.
