Transit flights through Abu Dhabi in the Middle East will cost more starting July

According to Lonely Planet, travelers flying with Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, or Emirates Airlines who transit through Abu Dhabi in the Middle East will now need to pay an additional fee.
This new policy will take effect in July. It applies to both transit passengers and those departing from Abu Dhabi, who will now need to pay an additional fee of around NT$330 (US$9.53). It is the latest airport to implement such a fee, following Sharjah and Dubai.
With the exception of infants under two years old and passengers transferring on the same airline, almost all flights to Abu Dhabi cannot avoid this fee. Moreover, the policy has been applied across all five airports operated by the Abu Dhabi government.
Abu Dhabi Airport is the second busiest airport in the United Arab Emirates and the headquarters of Etihad Airways, the largest airline in the Middle East. According to statistics from just the first four months of 2016, 8 million passengers transited through here. This policy may affect passengers’ willingness to transit through the airport in the future.
