The world’s first forest city — China’s new eco-friendly resort destination

As global urban development becomes increasingly avant-garde and people gradually grow accustomed to China’s spectacular architecture, a new architectural highlight has recently been announced. Unlike past designs that emphasized unconventional appearances, this new landmark is envisioned as an eco-energy ecosystem, creating China’s first forest city and aiming to reduce air pollution in major Chinese cities. The forest city will be covered with trees and plants.The buildings themselves will resemble vertical forests.，Completion is scheduled before 2020.

The forest city will be located in Liuzhou, in north-central Guangxi, covering an area of 138 hectares. It will include over 70 buildings such as residences, hospitals, hotels, schools, and office towers, accommodating 30,000 residents. The city is planned to feature more than 40,000 trees and nearly one million plants of over 100 different species.

This forest city is designed by the Italian architecture firm Stefano Boeri Architetti, with an eco-energy focus. Once completed, it will absorb nearly 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of pollutants annually, while producing 900 tons of oxygen. Additionally, the city will be powered by geothermal and solar energy.
